The text on the print reads ‘On Wednesday evening July 17th 1850 between 6 and 7 o’clock a most terrific and destructive Thunder storm, accompanied with a complete deluge of rain burst over the Town raging above an hour and occasioning much injury and loss of property, inundating Pool Valley and other parts of the Town to a depth of several feet’.
