BPC00347
Steel engraving by J Newman after the drawing by F W Woledge. Published by C Andrews, 11 St James’s Street, Brighton. Included in Woledge’s folder Six Brighton Views of 1842. This plate was also used as a letterheading.
Apart from the previous entry this is one of only three engravings of St. Nicholas which show part of Wykeham Terrace – the other two are Images of Brighton 683 and 687. There were no specific engravings ever done of Wykeham Terrace itself. The artist Frederick William Woledge lived at 27 Grenville Place, according to the 1843 Leppard Directory. After John Bruce, Woledge was the second most prolific Victorian artist of Brighton views.
