Hollingbury Copse

BPC00527

Hand coloured lithograph, printed by T. Way, London. C.1840

Drawn as an aerial view with the Ditchling Road going up the right-hand side of the scene. The settlement buildings in the centre of the scene have tall and substantial chimneys, indicating industrial rather than residential use. There is still a turning off the Ditchling Road today, next to the Surrenden Road turning, that bears the name Hollingbury Copse and this has the same bend round to the right, but, as in the print, does not lead anywhere.
