Many county maps, like View of Sussex, were illustrated with small vignettes of important buildings. Obviously the Pavilion was a favourite choice, but in this map of Sussex the Chain Pier is the main pictorial feature at the top, and this detail shows the vignette, which can be seen at the top of View of Sussex.
