Sepia-tinted lithograph by T Walton after T Earp. Published 26 May 1846, the day of the actual unveiling of the fountain, by W H Mason, King’s Road, Brighton.

The sky is printed in the sepia tone on a separate plate. The Albion Hotel is on the left, the Royal York on the right. This close-up image gives a good view of the western wing of the Albion that was added soon after the hotel was opened and, at the time of this print, the Albion was one of the most fashionable hotels in the town.
